The gay festival attacked and cancelled

Groups of Hooligans shouting « kill gays ! » and « Allah akbar » (Go dis great in Arabic) attacked the participants during the opening ceremony of the first gay festival of Sarajevo. The organizers had maintained the festival despite the anonymous death threats and the harsh critics in the Muslim press. Organizing the festival during the ramadan was juged a provocation.. The Christian chuches which do not approve of homosexuality did not criticized the festival. 8 people were hurt and the gay festival was eventually cancelled as visitors' safety was not garanteed.
