An official report confirms the decrease of the number of people with AIDS in France. The estimated number of people contaminated in 2007 is 5200 against 6300 in 2006. 85 000 receive treatment amongst which 30000 develop AIDS, with a death rate at 1,3%.
Treatments are more and more efficient and tolerated by patients. On the other hand, the report shows that tracking is unsufficient and estimates that 36 000 are infected without being aware of it. 33% of patients start their treatment when AIDS appears or is at an advanced phase. New awarenes campaign should focus on tracking.
