CASITAS LAZDÍVAZ is an intimate bed and breakfast located directly on the beach. Protected by a barrier reef, Playa Sámara is the safest swimming beach in Costa Rica. Three private cottages, one ("Tina Turner" ) with a fully equipped kitchen, all with ocean view. The new construction follows European standards with custom details throughout. Guests of casitas "Marlene Dietrich" and "Farinelli" are served a sumptuous breakfast with a view of the sea. Each casita has a queen-sized orthopedic bed accommodating two adults, modern bath with hot-water shower, ceiling fan, and security box. Owned and operated by a happy lesbian couple; straight-friendly.

Hosts are Berit Funke, an architect from Munich and Sara Arrand, a graphic designer from Boston. Destiny brought them together at the Gay Games in Amsterdam, and their dreams brought them to Sámara at the dawn of the new century. They have found that their dream, of living happily in paradise while offering guests a delightful holiday on the beach, requires continuous nurturing. They founded and run the local environmental committee, and work daily to protect the social and natural wonders and diversity of life in this fragile little seaside village.
