First Gay Pride in Mumbay

After New Delhi, Kolkata and Bengalore on June 29, Mumbay celebrated its first Gay Pride last Saturday, the day following Independance day. About 1000 people among whom Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley marched this first ever Mumbay Gay Pride. Traditional or fashion outfits, coloured masks to keep anonymous, rainbow flags were numerous. The main demands focused one th repeal of Article 377 of the penal code which criminalizes homosexuality in India. A few intellectuals supported the demands expressed during the Parade which went very smoothly.
